- MISANO ADRIATICO, Italy: Dani Pedrosa of Spain won the San Marino Grand Prix on Sunday from pole position, finishing 1.9 seconds ahead of MotoGP standings leader Jorge Lorenzo of Spain.
Pedrosa finished in 44 minutes, 22.059 seconds.
Lorenzo stays top of the standings with 271 points.
Pedrosa is second with 208.
Defending world champion Valentino Rossi finished 3.183 seconds behind Pedrosa in third. The Italian is fourth in the standings on 130, nine behind Andrea Divozioso.
The race was overshadowed by the death of Shoya Tomizawa of Japan in the preceding Moto2 race after he lost control of his bike and was hit by two other riders. A statement on the MotoGP website said Tomizawa died of cranial, thoracic and abdominal trauma.
