- TAIF: A folk poet reciting during an Eid function in Taif was thrown out of the hall when the audience learned that he had been simply regurgitating his own material, considered an unforgivable breach of trust among the literary community.
Folk arts presentations and poem recitations are a common part of Eid celebrations in Taif. Poets, who would usually be praising a local VIP, are required to perform an original composition every single time. But in this case, the poet was asked to stop by the horrified VIP whom he was supposed to be praising, Shams reported on Tuesday. The VIP said the man had recited the same poem in praise of two others on earlier occasions, only replacing the names.
