- RIYADH: The Saudi Customs Office is to host in Riyadh the First Arab Forum on Oct.
- 20 to discuss means to protect consumers against counterfeit goods and products.
"The forum will also discuss various ways to ensure the protection of intellectual property and protect consumers against fraud and counterfeit products," said Saudi Customs General Manager Saleh Al-Khilaiwy in a statement.
The aim of the forum is to highlight the role of Saudi customs and other government sectors involved in combating commercial fraud. It also aims to shed light on the role of the private sector in partnership with Saudi Customs in combating counterfeiting and commercial fraud.
"The forum comes on the basis of the role which Saudi customs has played ... in fighting commercial fraud and counterfeit products," Al-Khilaiwy said.
He added that fake goods affect consumers' health and finances, in addition to damaging the economy and development. He also said that aside from the dissemination of general information on how to combat commercial fraud, Saudi Customs also aims to inform professionals and participants about the role of relevant authorities in combating fraud and counterfeiting.
"It would be good to know their advice and guidance as well as their advice on the risks of and damage resulting from counterfeit goods and fake products," he said.
