Basha said the event would be held at 8:30 p.m. at the Cultural Palace in the city’s Diplomatic Quarters. He added that invitations for the party were sent by the chairman of the charity’s board of directors, Abdullah bin Abdul Mohsen Al-Turki, who is also secretary-general of the Makkah-based World Muslim League.

The event is also to be attended by a number of ministers, senior government officials, heads of regional and international organizations, newspaper editors in chief and media representatives.

IIROSA is also holding an exhibition on the sidelines of the event that will showcase its achievements, and its humanitarian and welfare activities. A documentary titled “Partners in Charity” on the organization’s local and international accomplishments will also be broadcast.

The reception will include a speech by the ambassador of Burkina Faso who is the dean of foreign diplomats in the Kingdom, and a speech by Al-Turki. This will be followed by dinner.

Basha said the event is being held on account of the organization’s continued cooperation and partnership with a number of countries around the world as well as with regional and international organizations to achieve its objectives and implement its welfare programs and initiatives which are open to all regardless of race, color or creed. Since its establishment about 25 years ago, IIROSA has been working to help people affected by natural or manmade disasters, refugees, orphans, the poor, the sick and the destitute.

Basha expressed his deep thanks and gratitude to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, Crown Prince Sultan, deputy premier and minister of defense and aviation, and Minister of Interior and Second Deputy Premier Prince Naif for supporting IIROSA.

“Bestowing King Abdullah with the title of ‘King of Humanity’ was a sincere expression of the world’s appreciation and respect for him on account of his generosity and good deeds, the most recent episode of which was his noble and humanitarian gesture to those affected by floods in Pakistan,” he said. Basha also expressed his gratitude to people who have supported the organization enabling it to extend help — in terms of relief, and education and health services — to about 43 million people in 149 countries.
