Saifi Ahmed, a driver from Bihar, was arrested at the Sahara International Airport while he was boarding Air India flight for Jeddah on Saturday night. He was carrying in his mobile phone pictures of Mohammed Ajmal Amir Qasab, the man convicted for 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, burning Taj Hotel, underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and some prominent politicians.

Ahmed was later handed over to the airport police, where he was interrogated by federal, state and local intelligence agents. Though nothing suspicious has been found in his possession, yet he continues to be in detention, police sources told Arab News on Monday.

A senior police official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that Ahmad will be released only after proper verification of his background.

According to sources, Ahmed had left his mobile phone at the security desk while clearing his luggage. CISF cops found his phone unattended and operated it to identify its owner, which led them to the pictures.

Ahmad, the police said, had worked as driver in Jeddah in 2007 and returned to India after a year. But his former Saudi employer recalled him for the job.

The pictures found in Ahmad's phone are freely available on the Internet and, according to officials, he told his interrogators that he had downloaded and stored the pictures merely as a collection.
