The award was received by Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Alrabiah, MODON's director general, in a brief ceremony here Tuesday. The award is given under the patronage of Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohamed Jamil Bin Ahmed Mulla.

"The award comes as affirmation of the Saudi  government's move to enhance performance of government entities through the utilization of digital technology, while improving efforts to build a digital community and efficient e-government service system," said  Alrabiah, while speaking on this occasion, here.

He said that an e-service system was set up by MODON to provide integrated services to meet the needs of investors, clients and people in general. The e-services system has improved the procedural operations of this industrial regulatory authority, increased the degree of efficiency of operations and reduced waste associated with them, said Alrabiah.

He said that the MODON offers services that help the investors to apply for land online, amend contracts and even relinquish any claim.

One can also know about the prequalification of a consultancy office or just go online for any simple inquiry, said the MODON chief. This is in addition to the investment opportunities and tenders services which are explained in detail online as part of its e-services network, he added. MODON is currently engaged in developing more e-services, that will go a long way in simplifying the procedures to set up industries, to get industrial lands allocated and even to set up the whole industry.

MODON currently oversees 20 industrial cities, where more than 3,000 industrial projects have implemented and which represent 60 percent of the Saudi factories with investments exceeding SR250 billion, he said. MODON receives applications for obtaining land electronically through its website www.modon.gov.sa. Moreover, MODON also offers details of all available investment opportunities for businessmen, whether they are in industrial, residential, commercial or service sectors.
