The NCP disciplinary action committee has taken a decision to serve notice to Siddiqui in this issue. According to NCP sources a show-cause notice would be served to Siddiqui in which he would be asked to explain his calling a press conference without consulting the party leadership, issuing controversial statements relating to the NCP and concealing information about the names of invitees from the senior party leaders who were invited for the party.

Siddiqui had specially invited Patil for the after party. Along with Patil he had also invited Salim Patel, driver of Dawood’s sister Haseena Parkar, who was arrested in the Hyderabad blasts case and is wanted on cases of extortion and forgery, Mubin Qureshi against whom a criminal offense is registered for taking possession of a hotel by force, and Irfan Qureshi, a builder and promoter, who has been blacklisted by the Bombay Municipal Corporation. Thereafter the media flashed the news of RR Patil hobnobbing with Dawood’s henchmen at the party.

Siddiqui held a press conference at the office of the MSMC on Wednesday and clarified that he had no connection with the henchmen of the underworld don present at the party. He alleged that the entire issue splashed in the media and on a television channel was a conspiracy by the media to defame him and the NCP and demanded a high level judicial inquiry into the issue.

Senior NCP leaders are angry and upset with Siddiqui for not making any efforts to discuss the issue or provide any information of it to them.

State minister for Irrigation and Power and senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar has taken serious note of the issue and stated that Siddiqui cannot absolve himself from his responsibility in the issue. Pawar further stated that he was of the view that it was mandatory on the part of Siddiqui to brief a senior party leader like the home minister about the people who would be present at the party.
