During a meeting with Dr. Khalid Al-Homoodi, director of the University, and Dr. Suleiman Al-Yahia, dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khaled Al-Anqari commended the university's achievement and the efforts exerted by its administration to reach outstanding levels of excellence.

ABET, a nonprofit organization, was established in 1932 as the Engineers' Council for Professional Development (ECPD) by seven engineering societies who founded the organization and contributed to its original direction and focus. In 1980, ECPD was renamed the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) to more accurately describe its emphasis on accreditation. Currently, ABET accredits some 2,900 programs at more than 600 colleges and universities nationwide.

Each year, over 1,500 volunteers from its now 30 member societies actively contribute to ABET’s goals of leadership and quality assurance in applied science, computing, engineering, and technology education, serving as program evaluators, committee and council members, commissioners, and board representatives.
