- AMMAN: An agreement was signed Tuesday under which the Swiss Confederation extended $16.8 million as economic aid to Jordan to finance medical operations performed by the country's Civil Defense Directorate (CDD), an official statement said.
The accord was signed by the visiting President of the Swiss Confederation Doris Leuthard and Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Jaafer Hassan.
Hassan said that 50 percent of the Swiss aid would be a grant while the rest is extended as a concessionary loan.
The agreement provides for supplying Jordan with 90 specialized ambulances for raising the quality of services extended by the CDD.
