Speaking to reporters after the signing ceremony, Prince Mishari said there is no plan to establish a separate desalination plant for Baha. He said the existing plants in Shuaiba and Shaqeeq would meet water requirements of the province. "But when the two plants reach their limits we'll definitely establish one for Baha," he added.

Minister Al-Hussayen said the new project would be completed within 28 months, adding that total water supply to Baha would reach more than 120,000 cubic meters daily. The project includes two parts: A pipeline from Taif to Arda and another from Arda to Baha. "We have a pipeline from Arda to Baha almost ready. So we'll focus on the Taif-Arda pipeline."

The first contract, valued at SR892.5 million was signed with Arabian Pipe Projects and India's Jaihind Projects to build a 217.4-km pipeline and a pumping station to supply 80,000 cubic meters of water daily to the cities of Sudaira, Shaqsan, Ghazayel and Khedan.

The second  contract worth SR170 million was signed with Group Five to supply pipes with a length of 217.4 kms and radius of 40 inches.
