- ALGIERS: A security official says five people in Algeria have been killed by a remote control bomb that exploded at a work site in the North African country.
The official says the bomb went off Tuesday as public works officials inspected a work site in Tlidjen, near the country’s eastern border.
Those killed were three local public works officials and two entrepreneurs.
A hospital official has confirmed details of the bombing.
Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to media.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Most attacks in Algeria are claimed by Al-Qaeda in North Africa, a local insurgency movement that joined Osama Bin Laden’s terrorist network in 2006.
