- MUMBAI: The Kanjurmarg police on Wednesday arrested a younger brother of Shiv Sena Member of Parliament and Executive Editor of Sena mouthpiece Saamna Sanjay Raut and five Sena workers on charges of robbery, rioting and trespassing.
The arrests came after the Bombay high court passed strictures against the police for not taking action into a complaint lodged against the accused.
Sunil Raut, along with the four Sena workers who were identified as Ramesh Gavkar, Atul Kaluskar, Manish Redkar and Hitendra Joshi forcibly entered the office of Sakaram Maladkar Gavit Fishermen Association (GFA) on June 13, ransacked it and took away belongings from the office.
Aggrieved by police inaction against the Sena goons, Maladkar filed a petition in the Bombay high court. The court ordered the police to take action in pursuance to the FIR. The five appeared at a local court later which released them on bail.
