- JEDDAH: Security officers in Yanbu arrested the suspected killer of a Saudi youth within 24 hours after his body was found in a deserted well in Al-Najaf village, 70 km northeast of the industrial city.
Security sources told Arab News that the youth was 18 years old and there were signs of a struggle on his body before he was thrown into the well.
Criminal intelligence officers were able to arrest the suspected killer after receiving information from the youth’s father. “Police arrested the man at his house in Al-Amoudi district, which is located in the center of Yanbu Al-Bahr,” one source said. The suspected killer, 40, had close friendship with the youth, the source said.
The Civil Defense Department in Yanbu received information from the youth’s family about the missing of their son on Thursday.
The Civil Defense, which could not find the youth, passed on the case to security police. Later the Civil Defense found the youth’s body inside the well.
Yanbu police have made a number of security achievements in recent months. The latest was the arrest of a serial killer, who had killed three maids. Police arrested the serial killer after a four-year-long search.
