Speaking to Arab News after their meeting with Saudi businessmen at the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a Malaysian delegate highlighted the strong relations between the two Muslim countries.

“We are optimistic that we can establish trade partnerships with Saudi businessmen,” he said, adding that it would increase commercial exchange between the two countries, especially in construction materials.

Trade exchange between Saudi Arabia and Malaysia amounted to SR7.6 billion in 2009.

Amran Bin Yem, trade commissioner at the Consulate General of Malaysia in Jeddah, said the strong bilateral relations would encourage the two sides to establish economic and trade partnerships.

“Our delegation has come to Saudi Arabia to explore investment opportunities and inform Saudi businessmen about the capabilities of our companies,” said Bin Yem, who represents Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE).

Hamad Al-Humaidan, deputy secretary-general of RCCI, underscored the development of the business sector in both Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.

“We hope both sides can establish partnerships in contracting and industry and make use of Malaysian expertise in the field.”

Saudi businessmen held bilateral meetings with members of the Malaysian delegation and discussed the prospects of participating in various investment projects.
