The girl had left home to throw garbage when a man tried to pull her into a car. The girl screamed for help and managed to escape. Failing to kidnap the girl, the man drove off in his car, a Nissan Datsun.

Police said there were no witnesses. The girl, accompanied by her father, visited a local police station to lodge a formal complaint.

A manhunt has been launched to arrest the man.
