- JEDDAH: Municipal authorities in Jeddah have invited tenders for construction of a new 700-meter flyover at the intersection between Madinah Road and Al-Amal Road, it announced on Wednesday.
The authority said bids for the two-year contract would open on Nov. 12.
“The project is aimed at upgrading the road network and reducing traffic congestion in the city,” a statement from the municipality said.
The statement added that this is the first project of its kind on the Al-Amal axis, which extends from King Abdul Aziz Street in the west to the Haramain Expressway in the east.
The contract includes construction of a bridge and asphalting and facilitating detours to divert traffic during the building phase.
The municipality said the winning bidder would also provide lighting for the area, install traffic signals, implement a drainage system and plant trees.
It said the contractor would be responsible for protecting the area from dust from construction work and cleanup after completion of the project.
