Five Civil Defense teams moved the 108 pilgrims in the hotel to safer places and extinguished the fire. The pilgrims were all Malaysians. Those who suffered suffocation were given first aid by the Red Crescent at the spot itself.

The accident was caused by short-circuit in an air-conditioning system in the building, said an official of Civil Defense.
