- JEDDAH: Hail police arrested on Saturday a man who allegedly ran off with a large amount of money belonging to several Saudis after promising them he would recruit maidservants on their behalf.
The man had reportedly taken SR5,000 to SR9,000 from each person.
When the man failed to fulfill his promise and people began to complain, he gave them bank checks, which later bounced. This gave him time to disappear.
The man’s victims then lodged complaints with the police, which issued a warrant for his arrest.
“When we received a large number of complaints about the man, we circulated his description and by the Grace of God our officers in Riyadh and Hail were able to arrest him,” said Hail police spokesman Lt. Col. Abdul Aziz Al-Zenaidi.
The man was arrested with the support of police officers in Riyadh and Hail and was found hiding in a Riyadh neighborhood. “Officers are questioning him to get more information about his activities,” said Al-Zenaidi.
