QATIF: Two Saudis were critically injured during a gang brawl in Qatif on Wednesday, a local daily reported. The two gangs used guns and knifes.

The injured were rushed to Qatif Central Hospital, one suffering from stab wounds in the stomach and the other from a gunshot. When the doctor tried to find out what happened, one of the victims claimed he was not able to talk. When the hospital called police, the patient escaped. Eyewitnesses said that the fight started because of a long-running dispute between the two gangs.
 

JEDDAH: A ten-year-old child of African nationality died in a fire at a block of flats in the Al-Bawadi district in Jeddah on Wednesday. The Civil Defense managed to rescue the rest of the family from the burning apartment on the second floor of the building. A Civil Defense official said that the fire started when a child was playing with matches.
 

RIYADH: Riyadh police are investigating the murder of a National Guard colonel early Wednesday. The victim was reportedly shot and killed by a fellow officer. No details were revealed and police are still investigating the incident.
 

RIYADH: Riyadh police arrested a 31-year-old Saudi man accused of stealing a security van transporting more than SR1 million in cash. The vehicle was parked in front of a bank when the man jumped inside and drove off. Police were able to track down the van and the robber was arrested inside his house while trying to hide the money. The man confessed to the crime and police are investigating to see if he has committed any other crimes in Riyadh.
 

MAKKAH: An imam was attacked during prayer when a man hit him on the head with a hammer. The victim said he was praying Isha when the incident happened. He managed to finish the prayer and then went to hospital. People at the mosque told the imam that his attacker lives in the same neighborhood. Police are still searching for him.
