Andrei Kostitsyn had a goal and an assist, while Lars Eller scored his first goal in 21 games with Montreal late in the second to put the Canadiens up by three. Michael Cammalleri and Tomas Plekanec also scored for the Habs.

Carey Price made 24 saves. Price, the starter in all but one of Montreal's 22 games, has 13 wins to match his total from last season.

Alec Martinez scored his first NHL goal in his season debut for Los Angeles, which has lost five of six.

In St. Paul, Minnesota, Danny Briere, Ville Leino and Andreas Nodl each had a goal and an assist as Philadelphia routed Minnesota.

James van Riemsdyk, Jeff Carter and Jody Shelley also scored for Philadelphia, 12-2-1 in its past 15 games. The Flyers, tied with Washington atop the NHL standings with 32 points, entered with a league-best 3.5 goals per game. They have scored 39 in the past eight games.

In Tampa, Florida, Steven Stamkos scored his NHL-leading 21st goal and had two assists, as Tampa Bay stretched its winning streak to five by beating New York.

Stamkos also has 17 assists for a league-leading 38 points in 22 games. The center has had a point in all but three games.

Ryan Malone added two goals for the Lightning. He entered with just three goals in 33 previous games against the Rangers.

New York got third-period goals from Steve Eminger, Brian Boyle and Derek Stepan after falling behind 5-0. The Rangers went more than 15 minutes without a shot from late in the first period, and were outshot 25-7 through 40 minutes.

In Raleigh, North Carolina, Brooks Laich scored a power-play goal on a deflection with 7:58 left as Washington snapped a three-game losing streak by beating Carolina.

Nicklas Backstrom scored two goals for the Southeast Division-leading Capitals, who blew a 2-0 lead in the third period before recovering.

Sergei Samsonov and Eric Staal scored 4:01 apart in the third period to pull the Hurricanes even at 2-2.

In Atlanta, Andrew Ladd scored a short-handed goal to help Atlanta win its third straight game and beat Detroit.

In Vancouver, Ryan Kesler's disputed goal 3:52 into the third period stood up as the game winner as Vancouver topped Colorado.

Alex Burrows added an insurance goal with 6:53 left, and Kevin Bieksa and Daniel Sedin also scored as the Canucks snapped a four-game losing streak to move into a tie with Colorado atop the Northwest Division.

In Uniondale, New York, Columbus continued its strong form and condemned New York to its 14th straight loss.

The Islanders, 0-11-3 in their past 14 games, scored more than two goals for the first time in 12 contests and earned a point at home for the first time since Oct. 12. This is New York's longest stretch without a win since a 14-game skid in 1989-90.
