“Police officers were able to capture one of the men, a 22-year-old Yemeni, and retrieve the stolen wallet, which was empty. It had also contained the victim’s ID card. We’re still looking for the other man,” said Col. Misfer Al-Juaid, spokesman for Jeddah police.

“A case has been filed at Al-Safa police station and we’re carrying out an intensive search for the other man. He will eventually be caught and brought to justice,” he added.

Meanwhile, two Yemeni nationals were arrested in the city’s Aziziyah district for stealing a number of important documents and SR5,000 from the room of a Bangladeshi.

“The two men waited until the victim had left his room. They then sneaked inside and stole the items. It was only later that the Bangladeshi realized what had happened and informed the police. The two men were searched and the items recovered from them. Both men are in police custody,” said Al-Juaid.

In another incident, two Pakistanis were arrested in Al-Faisaliah district on Sunday for stealing eight truck tires from a trailer, police said.

“The two men were arrested around 9 p.m. following a tip-off at a police station in the north of the city. Police stopped the two men in their truck with the stolen goods inside,” Al-Juaid said.

The two men are currently in police custody while investigations continue.

Also on Sunday, five Saudi youths were arrested in Jeddah’s Al-Rawabi district for stealing electric cables.

“The man who owned the cables, a 31-year-old Saudi, saw the five youths enter his property over a wall, steal the cables and drive off. The man contacted the police who were able to catch the five youths and recover the goods,” said Al-Juaid.

He added that all five are being questioned at Al-Rawabi police station.
