Five pilgrims were killed and 10 injured when the vehicle they were traveling in met an accident near Al Yutama, 77 km from Madinah. The pilgrims were coming to Jeddah airport. The consul general was speaking to the injured pilgrims during his visit to the hospital.

Those killed in the accident were Muhammad Rehman, Iqbala Bibi, Dil Khobana, Imtiaz Khan and Hastani. Those injured included Shamawaz Khan, Dildari, Bilawar Jana, Awal Jana, Saranjam Khan and Umar Khan.  The consul general also met with Madinah Traffic Department Chief Brig. Siraj Abdul Rehman Kamal and thanked him for the timely airlifting of the injured and rapid completion of the documentation for their treatment.

Khan also met the Chief Justice of Madinah General Court Sheikh Fahd bin Ibrahim Al Muhaimeed and discussed with him matters of mutual interest. The consul general requested the chief justice and Brig. Kamal to expedite the Diyat cases of the pilgrims who died in the accident.

The consul general was assured by the two officials that the issue of death compensation of Pakistani pilgrims would be handled on priority basis.
