- TAIF: Two young Saudi girls were injured when they were run over by the speeding car of a Saudi young man.
- It is the second such incident in five days.
The accident happened on Sunday morning in the Al-Shuhadaa Al-Shamaliya district in Taif.
The girls, both students, were hit when they were crossing the road on their way to school. Traffic police soon rushed to the scene and took the young man into custody.
Speaking to Arab News, Col. Muhamamd Al-Shanbari, acting director of traffic police in Taif, said the man was being questioned.
“The girls, who sustained minor injuries, are now in good health. Both of them left King Faisal Specialist hospital after receiving treatment,” he said, adding the young man claimed the accident happened after he was blinded by the sun.
Three girl students were injured in a similar accident after they were hit by a Yemeni national’s vehicle in the Al-Bukhariya district five days ago. The driver also gave the same excuse of being blinded by the sun.
