As soon as both the houses assembled on Tuesday morning, opposition legislators raised slogans against the state government demanding a JLC inquiry in Adarsh and Lavasa. They demanded that first a discussion should be held into the Adarsh scam followed by a JLC inquiry. The Speaker of the Assembly Dilip Walse-Patil turned down the demand and tried to continue with the house business. But the opposition continued to create an uproar, after which the Speaker, finding it difficult to continue the house proceedings adjourned the house for the day.  The opposition then walked out and staged a protest in the campus of the Assembly and condemned the Congress-NCP led government.

Opposition leader and senior BJP leader Eknath Khadse said that the opposition was not satisfied with the action taken by the government in the Adarsh housing scam.

“We demand that the entire Adarsh scam and the Lavasa project should be probed by the JLC. Until and unless our demands are met we will not allow the proceedings in the Assembly or Council to take place,” Khadse said.

Meanwhile in related development, six senior officials of the Urban Development Department (UDD) who were being investigated by the Crime Branch of the Mumbai police  relating to the 20 missing files and documents of the Adarsh housing scam were given clean chit.

A senior police official said that sustained interrogation of the officials of the UDD did not reveal that they were responsible for the missing files. However, the police official said that some junior officials of the department would also be interrogated and the mystery of the files and documents would be unearthed shortly, he said optimistically.
