The Beltone True is a nearly invisible Bluetooth-compatible “hearing instrument.” It is among the first to wirelessly receive sound directly from TV, cell/home phone, stereo, PC or iPod via a 2.4 GHz signal. The Beltone True allows hearing-impaired users to comfortably converse with those nearby while still listening to music or watching their favorite TV program. It offers excellent sound quality and eliminates the embarrassing high-pitched whistling of past hearing aids. The Beltone True’s advanced integrated circuit enables wireless connections to be made to other devices without audible delay. A remote control gives users the ability to independently adjust each hearing instrument’s volume and sound quality.

Technical Artist, a Tokyo-based engineering company, has unveiled its Starlight Panel technology (), which is being used in a new type of electrical magnetic writing board. Users can draw and write on the Starlight Panel just by touching the surface of the panel with any object. Unlike typical electric writing boards, the Starlight Panel relies on an analog principle that does not use any sensors or microchips. The multi-porous magnetic panel itself is designed to fulfill the functions of a writing board. This technology does not need any accompanying software to run the hardware. It gives freedom to artistic expression by allowing users to draw thin and thick lines intuitively. Hand strokes are directly represented on the display instantly. Technical Artist is about to launch a partner program for those who are interested in manufacturing and distributing Starlight Panels. See a demo of Starlight Panel technology at .

The  Xi3 Modular is a cube-like computer that measures less than 4-inches per side, but it’s as powerful as the large workstation towers common in offices everywhere. It’s powered by 64-bit x86 dual core processors and requires on average just 20 Watts or less to operate. That’s one-fifth the electricity used by a desktop PC. The Xi3’s computer architecture divides the classic motherboard into three separate boards. One board houses the processors and RAM, and two additional I/O boards handle all connectivity and input/output requirements. Each Xi3 board can be quickly removed, modified and/or replaced. Additionally, the Xi3 design makes it very easy to connect new external devices to this computer. The concept behind the Xi3 is that a computer should be upgradeable and updateable, over and over again. Patents for the Xi3 are already in place and it will go on sale in early 2011 priced at $849.
