- RIYADH: In a broad daylight robbery, an Asian expatriate was robbed on Wednesday of cash and valuables worth SR100,000 on the streets of Riyadh.
Eyewitnesses said the incident took place when the victim, identified only as Abdul Gafoor, 33, from Calicut, was alighting from his car with his briefcase. Four youths of unknown nationality attacked him and ran away with the briefcase containing the cash and valuables.
Gafoor was taken to the government hospital in Semesi by a Red Crescent ambulance. He was in stable condition, said a hospital employee. The incident took place at 8:10 a.m. on Olaya St. near the Akariya lights. The victim, who is a phone-card salesman was taking his previous day's collection and unsold cards to his office, which was a few meters away from the parked area.
