The participants had to contest with 120 competitors from 10 Arab countries organized by the Egyptian Science Age Society (SAS) in collaboration with Intel Corporation.

Saudi Arabia clinched the first place for a science project submitted by Fatima Abdul Hakim, a student. The Kingdom also won a second place for the best specialized project. It also finished third and fourth in five competitions and won fourth place in the competition of the best project. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency, Ahmed Ali Al-Balushi, head of the Saudi delegation to the competition, said the government has a special scheme to encourage talented students.
