- DUBAI: Cisco launched Flip Video camcorders in the Middle East for the first time at a colorful ceremony in Dubai recently.
Fadi Kachkouche, regional business manager for emerging markets, told Arab News that they hope that they can sell more than 100,000 units in the United Arab Emirates during the first year. While asked why has Flip taken so long to reach the Middle East from US and Europe, Kachkouche, said that Middle East users account for approximately 15 percent of the total 500 million Facebook users worldwide, and the site is now the fifth most popular website in Saudi Arabia. Flip Video camcorders are pre-installed with FlipShare software that enables users to easily organize, edit and share their videos. Consumers can plug the camcorder's signature flip-out USB arm into any Mac or PC to access FlipShare's simple drag-and-drop interface for easy video sharing via e-mail or direct upload.
Kachkouche said that Cisco’s consumer vision is focused on building great consumer products that enable people to live a connected life that is more personal, more social, and more visual. "We are utilizing our world-class experience in the networking, software and video arenas to deliver on this vision," he added.
