The three bodies belong to a 40-year-old Saudi woman and her daughters aged 12 and 14. They had been spending the weekend on the beach.

“The mother was speeding on a jet ski and was not wearing a security bracelet. She unwittingly drove into the rocky shore, which made her fly off the jet ski with her two daughters and they died from their injuries,” said Saleh Al-Shuhri, spokesman for the Border Guards. “The people who found them could not offer any help because they all fell on their heads and sustained massive injuries.”

When asked about the rules of driving a jet ski in the Kingdom, Al-Shehri said that everyone should have a license to drive one or at least be trained and know when to speed and when to drive slowly. “Women are not allowed to drive jet skis or jet boats whatsoever, but some renters are not following the rules,” said Al-Shehri.

“Those rules should be followed by every renting office. And those who do not are considered to be breaking Border Guard rules. The only safe way is for people to get a license not only to protect their life, but to protect others’ lives too.” The bodies were transferred to King Fahd Hospital in Jeddah.
