During the event, AbuSulayman gave a speech on the active role of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation, Arab women in general and Saudi women in particular, and the progress they have made in the corporate arena and other fields of work. "Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation has always been on the forefront of female empowerment from hiring policy to our grant policy," AbuSulayman said.

The Empowerment of Women Award honored the exceptional work of Prince Alwaleed in the empowerment and advancement of women, especially Saudi Arabian women. Prince Alwaleed's support and encouragement of women stems from the fact that women's active role is required for economic and social advancement where the Prince has hired Saudi women in key positions at Alwaleed Foundation. The prince believes in women's active role in society in various fields such as the development of small businesses and he is a key supporter of career women in this respect.

The prince's philanthropic grants and donations have spanned over 60 countries ranging from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe; from Gaza to Gambia, totaling more than $2.4 billion over the last 30 years. He has established three foundations to handle his philanthropic activities across the globe under the slogan "Commitment Without Boundaries" - Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation in Saudi Arabia, Alwaleed Bin Talal Humanitarian Foundation in Lebanon and Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation in Lebanon.
