Earlier in the day, in front of horrified family members and neighbors, a drug-addled 38-year-old man stabbed Malik in the back twice and then slashed his throat. Later, he turned himself in to police to face murder charges.

The motive for the brutal attack is unclear, but relatives say the man had a score to settle with the family and on that day he went to the house and murdered in cold blood the first family member he could get his hands on.

The man, who was not identified by name, had attempted two times to enter the home and was chased off after arguing with the head of the family and threatening to kill him.

Hours before killing Malik, the man had gone to the home of the boy's uncle demanding his car. When the uncle turned him down, the man stabbed him with a knife. Before the police could appear, he went to the house of Malik's family. When the father saw the knife, he refused to open the door.

At that moment, Malik approached the house. Before he realized what was happening, Malik was slaughtered as horrified family members watched from windows.

The man is in custody and faces the death penalty if found guilty of his crime.
