The denial was in fact a confirmation of reality. Does the Traffic Department consider women incomplete citizens?

Does it not recognize women as citizens when they have identity cards issued by the Ministry of Interior, the body under which both the Traffic Department and the Civil Affairs Department come? Are ID cards, which are proof that women are citizens, just ink on paper? In our homeland, there is a woman who has reached the rank of a deputy minister but still unable to buy a car. The Kingdom is committed to Islam as a rule of government yet women cannot operate freely. I fear the day when women will not be allowed to take food without the consent of their guardians. This decision is so shameful that even the Traffic Department has tried to deny it, though it is a fact.

By the way, when can women be people with proper legal ability and not just incomplete citizens?

Just imagine — a woman who is able to pay thousands of riyals for a car needs to have the consent of her guardian to buy it. This is another step on the road to mitigating women and opening doors for their exploitation. They have saved this money through their work as teachers educating the girls of this country in schools and universities, and from their work as medical doctors treating this country’s women, children and men. They have earned this money after becoming successful and distinguished in their work. These women have made their money serving their country.

The woman is a human project liable to education and work but as a citizen she is considered to be legally incompetent. Through the family card, any man can assume legal representation for any woman without the need to ascertain whether he has the woman’s permission. If witnesses are needed, then there are many who can be hired from outside courts.

Despite the fact that our religion has given women legal independence, the Traffic Department sees otherwise. Is the grand mufti and the Supreme Council of Senior Scholars in agreement with the Traffic Department or will they issue a fatwa to restore usurped woman's rights?

This is a backward step which the Traffic Department should stop as any system that deprives a woman her civil rights is lacking and not Saher (vigilant). There must be a mechanism to safeguard public rights without encroaching on private rights. The withdrawal of a woman's right to do whatever she wants with her money is an unjust practice.

There must be legal solutions to protect all citizens whether they are men or women. We want to make the ID effective and not marginalize it. Women have every right to be complete citizens. They should have all the rights enjoyed by normal citizens. They are not incomplete humans or citizen without proper legal authority.
