- JEDDAH: The Ministry of Education will provide 23 schools in remote villages near Al-Leeth, in which studies were disrupted due to rains, four-wheel drive cars to take students and teachers to their schools during rainy season, director of financial and administrative affairs at the ministry Saleh Al-Hameed told Arab News Friday after a tour of the schools in the area.
Al-Hameed said deals may also be concluded with students' transport companies to provide transport to students in Al-Leeth.
The team said the schools themselves were not affected by rains but roads leading to them were submerged.
“We have agreed with the department of education in the municipality to provide transport means that will enable both students and teachers to be at their schools on time,” said Al-Hameed.
He added that his own car broke down because of the difficult terrain. He said they ordered air conditioners, water coolers and sport halls for a number of schools in the area.
Al-Hameed on the other hand said 420 women teachers who are graduates of the College of Teachers for Women will be appointed to cover the shortage of teachers in the area.
