- JEDDAH: A number of large health projects in Jeddah are set to be completed, upgrading the level of health services for local residents and reducing pressure on existing health facilities, Director of Health Affairs in Jeddah Dr.
- Sami Badawood announced on Tuesday.
“The new projects include a 500-bed hospital in north Jeddah, which is about 75 percent complete and costs SR228.8 million,” he said.
According to Badawood, the contractor will hand over the hospital to his department in April and tenders have already been offered to furnish it.
Badawood said a new 300-bed hospital in east Jeddah at a cost of SR41 million was also nearing completion. He said final touches were being made to a SR68 million medical tower at King Fahd General Hospital. “This tower will increase the hospital’s capacity.”
Badawood added that an integrated dental center with 40 well-equipped clinics and modern labs would soon be opened in Jeddah.
The director said a new hospital in Al-Leeth would be completed within 30 months. “The hospital will have 100 beds and is costing SR125 million,” he said, adding that once completed, Al-Leeth residents will not have to come to Jeddah for advanced treatment.
