“Security sources had been keeping a close eye on the suspects who used their house in the district to store the loot. All three men are currently at Al-Safah police station while investigations continue,” said Col. Misfer Al-Juaid, spokesman for Jeddah police.

Three Yemeni nationals, who were living in the Kingdom illegally, were also arrested in Jeddah’s Gholail area for breaking into cars and robbing cash and cell phones.

“Two of the culprits were arrested at 10 p.m. on Friday. When the two were brought to Al-Nuzla police station, both admitted they were part of a local gang and that there was a third person,” said Al-Juaid.

Police were eventually able to arrest the third man.

All three are being held at Al-Nuzla police station while investigations continue.

A 40-year-old Yemeni sales representative was also arrested in the city’s Al-Ajaweed district on Saturday for stealing SR367,908 from his employer.  The man is thought to have used his position at the company to siphon off the money from a safe.

“The suspect was arrested at 8 a.m. and was taken to a police station in south Jeddah where he admitted stealing the money,” said Al-Juaid.

A 28-year-old Egyptian was also arrested for stealing SR50,000 from his company in the city’s downtown Balad district, police said.

“A company representative contacted the police at 12 p.m. on Saturday reporting the employee’s disappearance along with the money. The man was arrested later Saturday,” Al-Juaid.
