“We also organized training sessions and awareness campaigns to enlighten people about human rights,” Muflih Al-Qahtani told Arab News on Friday.

He also said the NSHR formulated a five-year strategy in a meeting on Thursday for its activities.

Al-Qahtani said the members were satisfied with the performance of the society but aspired to achieve more in the future.

He said the executive board of the society will meet soon to establish its various committees. “The board is periodically elected, not appointed,” he pointed out.

The NSHR was established in 2004 to defend human rights in the Kingdom according to Shariah and the government's regulations and ruling system.
