For around nine years, Ayesha was on dialysis due to kidney failure. This, however, came to an end when she underwent a kidney transplant, something that has now enabled her to pursue a normal life.

“Before the kidney transplant, I underwent inexplicable suffering and the bitter experience of frequent dialysis. My pathetic condition had also spoiled the happiness of my family,” she said, adding that the kidney transplant has brought about a total change in her life.

As a result, Ayesha is calling on people to come forward to donate organs. “There was a total difference in my life before and after the transplant. Healthy people should come forward to save people whose organs have failed,” she added.

Ayesha’s brother Saad Al-Mutairi lauded a humanitarian initiative undertaken by Prince Abdul Aziz bin Salman to support his sister and others with kidney problems.

Prince Abdul Aziz, general supervisor of Prince Fahd bin Salman Charity Foundation for the Care of Patients with Kidney Failure, met the expenses to accommodate Ayesha’s family in the vicinity of the Riyadh hospital where she underwent her kidney transplant surgery.

The family lives some 700 km from Riyadh, and Ayesha and her relatives stayed at the accommodation while she recovered from surgery and underwent daily hospital checkups.

Saad also spoke of the importance of public awareness campaigns to help people with kidney failure.
