Guest of honor at the event was leading Saudi intellectual Anwar Al-Asiri. Also in attendance were the school’s patrons Sheikh Luqman Al-Quman and Hafiz Abdul Basit Qasmi.

Al-Asiri congratulated the children and lauded the religious fervor of sub-continental people. He said that children from Indian and Pakistani backgrounds, in spite of Arabic not being their native tongue, excel in memorizing the Qur’an more than Arab children and that there should also be a focus on understanding the Qur’an along with its memorization, something that would benefit the Ummah.

Speaking on behalf of the Tahfiz school, Uthman Umar said Madrasah Abu Bakr bin Hafs has been running for three years and that dozens of children have memorized the Holy Qur’an since its inception. He added that around 60 children are currently studying there.

The event concluded with the distribution of prizes by Al-Asiri. The school’s principal, Qari Akram, delivered a vote of thanks at the end of the ceremony.
