- BAGHDAD: An Iraqi police spokesman says a car bomb has killed four people at a headquarters for a guard force that protects government buildings in eastern Iraq.
A police spokesman in Diyala province, Maj. Ghalib Al-Karkhi, says 57 people were injured in the blast on Wednesday morning.
Al-Karkhi says the car was driven by a suicide attacker and crashed into the headquarters’ main gate in the city of Baqouba, 35 miles (60 kilometers) northeast of Baghdad. He says it exploded when guards opened fire on the car to try to stop it.
Police say the blast toppled a building on the headquarters’ grounds.
The attack comes a day after a suicide bomber targeting police recruits in northern Iraq killed 65 people.
