- DOHA: Qatar says it has dropped midfielder Hussein Yasser from its Asian Cup team after he argued with coach Bruno Metsu during a training session.
Team manager Abdulrahman Al Mahmoud said on the team's website Wednesday that Yasser got into an argument with Metsu on Tuesday and then walked out of the practice. He said Yasser was upset after being replaced by Metsu with youngster Mohammed Al Sayed in the first match against Uzbekistan.
Yasser didn't start in the team's next two matches and has not scored for his side in the tournament.
The decision comes just two days ahead of Qatar's quarterfinal against Japan.
