Abdul Aziz Al-Hoqail, president of SRO, said the board made financial allocations for a central signal and control system, improving railway tracks to ensure passenger safety and completing high-speed train tracks.

He said the meeting, chaired by Transport Minister Jabara Al-Seraisry, approved the organization’s executive and technical bylaws after taking into consideration the observation of members.

The board also approved SRO’s budget for 2011, which mainly focuses on developing the organization’s infrastructure, and expanding services to passengers.

“We have decided to expand railway lines to destinations outside Al-Ahsa, acquire four modern trains and set up advanced signal systems along the railway lines,” he said.
