- JEDDAH: A man was arrested in Jeddah’s Al-Sharafiah district on charges he broke into different Toyota Camrys to steal the vehicles’ accessories, such as fire extinguishers, ashtrays, tools and spare tires.
- The suspect was identified only as an Asian man in his 20s living illegally in the country.
Police began investigating the string of thefts after receiving a recorded digital video from a woman in Al-Jamea district showing the man breaking into a car. The woman handed the evidence over to police, who later arrested the suspect. The man allegedly confessed to his crimes, including pickpocketing and snatching handbags. Police say they have fingerprint evidence linking the man to the vehicles.
“Upon his arrest security officers found a number of drug pills that the suspect was taking before he stole,” said police spokesman Col. Misfer Al-Juaid. “Most of the stolen items were recovered.”
