The committee allows its members to review policy matters and proposed bills concerning the expatriate population more closely.

The committee chaired by K.V. Abdul Khader of the ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) which started functioning Saturday has legislators from major political parties as its members.

The members are Abdurrahman Randathani, Indian Union Muslim League, V.D. Satheeshan, Congress party, N. Rajan, Communist Party of India, K.P. Mohanan, Socialist Janata Democratic, Varkala Kahar, Congress party, George M. Thomas, CPI-M and independent legislators K.T. Jaleel and P.T.A. Raheem.

The committee will review the functioning of various schemes launched by the government for the welfare of the Kerala expatriates, the utilization of the Pravasi Welfare Fund, hear complaints from the public and suggest solutions to various problems confronted by the expatriates.

Individuals and groups can now filed their complaints and make their representations on various issues in three copies addressed to Secretary/Chairman, Committee on Pravasi Welfare, Assembly Secretariat, Assembly Complex, Thiruvananthapuram.
