- JEDDAH: The Jeddah municipality has identified 2,500 plots of land on flood paths in south Jeddah that should not be developed.
- The latest municipal move brings the total of the plots with temporarily suspended services to 18,000.
The municipality recently reduced the width of these zones to 200 meters in major wadis, to 100 meters in secondary wadis and to 50 meters in small wadis.
Owners of land in these areas that are banned from development may appeal for the restoration of some services if they sign a document acknowledging that the government retains the right to remove those services at a later date.
It is unclear which types of services cannot be restored and which services can be restored with the signing of the document.
