- MAKKAH: Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday emphasized the role of universities in bringing about positive changes in societies.
- "Changes should be based on knowledge," he said.
Speaking at Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah after receiving an honorary doctorate degree, he highlighted the strong relations between Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
"There are several Turkish students at Umm Al-Qura. We also intend to admit a large number of Saudi students in our universities," the premier said.
Erdogan, who came to the Kingdom to attend the Jeddah Economic Forum, was given the doctorate degree in appreciation of his services to Islam.
