The department said in a statement that 127,500 children will benefit from the campaign which will be in two phases with the second one starting on March 30.

“Medical teams will visit every house to immunize children,” the statement said.

According to the director of the department, Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al-Taifi, the campaign teams will consist of personnel from health centers, hospitals, medical colleges, private medical institutes, school health departments, the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu and field teams.

Al-Taifi said massive awareness campaigns will be launched before the start of the vaccination drive to enlighten people about the necessity of immunizing their children against polio. He said there are enough doses of vaccine to immunize every child in the region. “We want to keep our beloved country free from polio,” Al-Taifi said.
