Al-Hussein received the Civil Defense officers at the headquarters of the governorate and handed each of them a certificate of appreciation for their bravery and speedy action.

The body of the woman was pulled out of the well, which was 85 meters deep and had a diameter of 30 cm, on March 2. The well is located south of the Al-Salam district. The woman’s body was detected using thermal cameras.

Assistant Minister of Interior Prince Muhammad bin Naif and Madinah Gov. Prince Abdul Aziz bin Majed followed the operation until the body was recovered.

The governor expressed thanks to the Civil Defense members who were involved in the operation that was undertaken in difficult conditions.

“I would like to thank Director General of the Civil Defense Gen. Saad bin Abdullah Al-Tuwaijri and Director of the Civil Defense in Madinah Brig. Zuhair bin Ahmad Hashim Sabbiyah for this heroic act, which will be added to the spectacular achievements of the Civil Defense,” he said.

This was the second recent incident of its kind in the Kingdom. In January, a woman fell into a deserted 40-meter well in Taif and her body was pulled out 12 days later. The woman was walking in the area with some of her relatives when she fell into the well.
