The weeklong event is entitled "Who said we can't? Yes, we can!"“This week is all about our young athletes, giving them the opportunity to shine, and show the community their capabilities and talents," said Maha, director and member of the Help Center’s Board of Trustees. "The Fire Bolt Games is also a testament to the power and importance of sports, as it provides an arena for people with special needs to socially interact and maximize their potential.” The Fire Bolt Games, she explained, aims at fostering greater awareness and appreciation within the community, towards the talents of people with disabilities. "It is also a platform to rally all those concerned with promoting, as well as encouraging, sports in people with disabilities, as sports training and competitions have great physical, mental, spiritual and social benefits," she added.The opening ceremony, which took place at the Help Center's Desert Gazelles Field, was attended by Saudi sports officials, heads of the participating schools and centers, as well as the young athletes' families and friends. The Fire Bolt Games ceremony features many inspiring performances. It ended with an elaborate fireworks show and the lighting of a symbolic torch. During the rest of the week, the athletes and centers will participate in the final round of competitions to determine the winners in basketball, football, swimming, track and field, bocce and table tennis, with different dates and hours designated to each sport.

On Tuesday, trophies will be given to the winning football and basketball teams of both genders. On the last day there will be an open sports day with all the children engaging with one another in a casual and friendly atmosphere.
