- MUMBAI: Maharashtra Home Minister RR Patil came out on Saturday in defense of National Congress Party (NCP) supremo and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar against whom the leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Eknath Khadse had leveled serious charges and alleged that Pawar had traveled several times in the private aircraft of 2G spectrum scam prime accused Shahid Balwa.
Leveling the charges in the Assembly on Friday Khadse alleged that Pawar, his daughter Supriya Sule and son-in-law were partners in Balwa’s DB Realty construction company based in Mumbai.
Khadse further alleged that Sharad Pawar was involved in a Rupees 15,000-crore land scam in Pune while Pimpri Chinchwad, along with his daughter Supriya Sule and her husband, were promoters.
The NCP went into a defensive mode after Khadse’s allegation.
“Leaders of all political parties have utilized the private aircraft of Balwa’s company. Whenever NCP leaders had used Balwa’s aircraft they had paid immediately," said the home minister.
