- LONDON: Britain’s South Hook Gas has signed a deal giving US-based ConocoPhillips access to spare liquefied natural gas import capacity at Europe’s biggest LNG terminal, it said.
South Hook Gas said the deal would increase the amount of LNG that may be delivered into Britain by allowing Conoco deliver super-cooled gas to the terminal if the owners are not using all the capacity.
“It’s a framework agreement which means that whenever there’s capacity available then we can do business but it doesn’t commit either side to specific voliumes at specific times,” a South Hook Gas spokesman said.
Since opening in May 2009, the terminal at Milford Haven in Wales has become Britain’s second biggest gas supply point, behind Norway’s Langeled pipeline, pumping increasing volumes of mainly Qatari LNG into the UK gas grid.
